Looking for the feeling of city life without the hassle? Boise’s Downtown district gives you all the same amenities of living downtown in a major city, with walkability to cute coffee shops, hole-in-the-wall breakfast spots, bookstores and boutiques! The best part? None of the city congestion or loud noise all through the night—except for what’s contained to 8th street. With numerous developments going up all over downtown, Boise is quickly becoming a sought out place to live. Below are some of our favorite things to do in downtown Boise.

1. Juniper for Brunch
This trendy 8th street staple is one of our favorite spots for brunch. Their chicken and biscuits is to die for—though there are options for the more health conscious eater, from quiche to a vegetarian hash. Juniper is easy to walk to from just about anywhere downtown, and with the quality of both the ambiance and food, it’s a fast crowd favorite.

2. Ward Hooper Gallery
Stop in to view some awesome artwork and meticulously curated vintage finds at Ward Hooper Gallery downtown. Just up Idaho Street, you’re sure to find a truly unique piece (of art or otherwise) to take home.

3. Form + Function
Starting off as a coffee cart, Form + Function has a new brick and mortar location! The coffee is tasty, and the sleek, minimalist, modern design makes for a memorable experience. Outfitted with well selected tables and numerous outlets, this shop is sure to become a favorite for freelancers looking for a nice place to settle in. Located just below the Fowler (soon to open) and just across from Trader Joes!

4. Pengilly’s Saloon
This is a locally-world-famous bar. With a fantastically cheap happy hour, eclectic western decor, and a super nice waitstaff, Pengilly’s is the go-to bar among many. During the summer, their outdoor patio sees a lot of use, with string lights and patio furniture—it’s easy to sit out there all night. Almost every night of the week some kind of musical event is happening, so there’s never a dull moment. On top of all that, they have a giant pool table. An all around great bar to settle into for the night!

5. Rediscovered Books
Here at TigerProp, we appreciate the small joys in life, and a good bookshop is surely one of those things. It’s refreshing to see an independent, local bookshop in the heart of downtown Boise! Stop in to check out titles new and old. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and you can browse to your heart’s content.
